Kadey-Krogen 64 Expedition

Kadey-Krogen Yachts’ 64-foot Expedition features a raked bow, 360-degree pilothouse and is designed to be handled by two people. The yacht is available in two-, three- or four-person cabins with three or four heads.

A walkway along the starboard side provides exterior access from the aft deck to the foredeck, which is capable of handling a 17-foot tender and related equipment. The Krogen 64 Expedition is also available with an open flybridge.

The galley features stainless appliances including a four-burner Viking range, full-size Jenn-Air refrigerator, Miele dishwasher, microwave/convection oven and trash compactor. A separate dining room sits starboard opposite the galley.

The three-keel design by Kadey-Krogen allows the Expedition model to have greater fuel efficiency than other keel forms. Each of the skegs to port is counter-faired, with the trailing end shaped to spin water flowing into the propeller in the opposite direction of the propeller rotation, resulting in greater operating efficiency.

The balanced hull form combined with continuous duty 231-hp John Deere engines gives the Krogen 64 Expedition an estimated range of 3,000 nautical miles at 9 knots, according to the boatbuilder. Supporting equipment in the engine room includes fuel polishing, oil exchange and fire-suppression systems. Hydraulic stabilizers, bow and stern thrusters, chilled-water air conditioning and a universal power converter are standard.

The hull is built using vinylester and isophthalic resins, Knytex mats and U.S.-made Cook UV-protected gelcoat. Critical areas of the hull are reinforced with an impact-resistant fiberglass mat featuring Twaron, an aramid fiber five times stronger than steel and 60-percent lighter. Estimated base price is $3.2 million.
